FORMAT International Photography Festival was established in 2004 and is the UKās leading international contemporary festival of photography. In addition to organising a year-round programme of international commissions, open calls, residencies, conferences and collaborations, it also welcomes more than 100,000 visitors to its Bienniale in Derby from all corners of the globe. The Festivalās launch weekend is scheduled for 13 to 16 March, and will include the exhibition openings, portfolio reviews, FORMATās annual conference, artist talks as well as the hugely popular FORMAT Photobook Market.

š§¢ New Vic plans a very Berry anniversary
The New Vic Theatre, alongside several other partners, have been awarded a Ā£147,193 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to design and deliver a year-long programme of events in 2025 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of British artist, poet, playwright and broadcaster, Arthur Berry. One of Staffordshireās most famous cultural icons, Berry created poetry, plays and artworks rooted in the local culture, and depicted aspects of 20th century working class life in a way rarely seen before or since.
š§¢ A desire to see an exhibition of work from Great Pottery Throw Down
BBC News Online ran a story recently about Channel Fourās Great Pottery Throw Down presenter Keith Brymer Jonesā desire to see a continual exhibition of the potters' work at Gladstone Pottery Museum in Stoke-on-Trent. Brymer Jones told BBC Radio Stoke it would be "wonderful" if the idea was officially given the go-ahead. He is quoted as saying: ā"What we're trying to do at Gladstone is have a continual exhibition of the potters' work. This is what's going to be happening next.ā He had high praise for Gladstone Pottery Museum, comparing it to a film set, saying: āIt just allows us to have this amazing backdrop to promote ceramics, and to promote the ceramics industry in Stoke."
